They were nabbed by the Special Tactical Squad of the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, attached to Abuja-Minna Highway. The duo are said to be part of a syndicate noted for killing of innocent people, using and selling them for rituals.

They are said to have their “customers” from within and outside the state. The ritualists Aminu, 22, and Ismaila, 27, were caught at about 9p.m. last Saturday with a fresh human head by the squad along Minna Paikoro Road Junction during a stop-and-search operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, DSP Babalola Adewole, who disclosed this to newsmen in Minna, confirmed that the victim whose severed head was found in possession of the suspects was an eight-year-old boy, identified as Hassan Abubakar of Bakajeba village in Paiko Local Government Area of the state.

She said the two suspects have confessed to committing the crime by cutting off the head of the deceased with two sharp knives. She said the suspects also disclosed that a third member of the syndicate, simply called Ibrahim, escaped and is still at large, but that he is being trailed by the Police. DSP Adewole stated that the two suspects already in Police custody are from Lupa and Makera villages, while the third suspect, at large, is also from Paiko Local Government Area of the state.
