The Kiosk With Madame K – Let’s Share This Bread

By Grace Shaibu

I welcome all my kiosk people both home and abroad. I mean, without you all,the kiosk will have no effect at all.

So, what will we be seeing this time? I am going to be sharing Melinda’s story. She ran to the kiosk for help over two months ago and shared her trouble with us. Pay close attention.

Melinda is a twenty-four year old lady who just finished her Service corps, she’s loving and very beautiful. When I met her, she came to get some biscuits from my kiosk and was so thrilled to see how women discussed different issues right there. When she came to get biscuits the third time I knew she didn’t come for biscuits alone, she came to listen. I gave her a seat and she sat there, lone in her thoughts till I called her name forth.

Melinda! Are you with us? She yanked off her thoughts and screamed Yes! Trust my kiosk people, they gave different facial expressions and still laughed it off before Melinda could notice. After my session with the women, I told her to wait a while. She did and I asked her, Hey, Melinda, What is wrong with you?  Melinda didn’t agree to speak at first but the day she spoke, I didn’t expect it. She came in and looked me in the face, Madame K, I am here to speak! Immediately, I Sat her down and asked her to speak on.

”Madame K, I don’t know if it’s right but I think I’m being used by my elder sister. She asked me to come into her house, as the last child and since my School was quite close to her place, I agreed to do so. Her husband was good with it and the day I got in, I was just too excited to live with them no hostel hustle. I enjoyed my stay there for just three months. After three months I became something else.

What happened to your sister I asked, I wish I could explain, she replied. Madame K, that night, around 12:35am, I saw my sister’s husband in my room. Lying beside me. I just became so cold, too cold to move and as I tried to move away and utter words, he said…

You don’t need to move or scream, your sister permitted me to do this. As husband and wife we have agreed. So, my dear Melinda! let’s share this bread”

…Till next week
