The Kiosk With Madame K – This Is It

By Grace Shaibu

Welcome to my kiosk . How are you all doing? I know you are waiting to listen to today’s story. Yes! We are still on this issue.

So Motola got back home after oodles of initial resistance she decided to speak up to her hubby. ”I told him everything and asked to see the lady, he was shocked and started apologizing about what happened”, she said.

So, what did you tell the woman when you saw her? He didn’t want me to see her initially, but I disagreed o. I told him that I must see the woman and guess what? she’s not even as beautiful as I am, dirty thing. Seriously, when men get sticky down below? they just fix it anywhere. It was that day I knew that Fola doesn’t have class at all.

At this point, I laughed terribly. It’s funny but true, you see these men?… Let us just keep quiet. So? What did the mistress say? I didn’t allow her steal the show at all . I sat her down and told her to tell me the whole story, their meeting and everything., right in front of my husband. He was seated right there.

Wow, I said. I am proud of your guts Motola! Ride on. The other women in the kiosk just kept looking and humming along as she spoke. Madame K,she said, I then told her that she shouldn’t worry, I have learnt my lessons from her but I cannot handover the land because I remain the Landlady of this territory, I said it to her face. I told her that I grazed the land, poured sharp sand, used tiles on it and gave it a sweet covering of gold. I cannot hand it over until I am done with it. My sower must reap her reward bountifully!

Who else is feeling Motola’s Candor? The women in the kiosk started screaming her name and she laughed explicitly. It was from her heart.

You haven’t seen anything yet o. Just wait. My Kiosk women, Motola said, by the time I was done with her, she couldn’t look at me at all and guess what happened immediately after my show of boldness and intelligent power? What? we all screamed. She confessed o.

She said, she wasn’t pregnant. She just wanted to tie Fola down thinking I would fidget and leave my home for her. Whaaaaaaaaaaat! we exclaimed. Then I said, even if she was pregnant, I wouldn’t leave the house, I Will not have her in anyway, I will grab the baby and show her that the power of the First is ultimately the indelible power.

What did your husband say when you got home? One of the kiosk women asked her. Look at you, Motola replied, I invited her my dear. she came to meet me and that’s the point, Not even for once will her recognize her.

Wow! I screamed. Motola! You have done us well. I am very proud of you. That our sister doesn’t want to sow but she wants to harvest. That’s not possible. You see these sets of farmers? They don’t sleep! They watch and cut out tares from the crops. You have done well my sister.

And that day, we sang, we ate, we hailed Motola, our sister who fought well!

Till Nextweek!
