Welcome to the rant column.

Today, I am writing on something that I have noticed so well in our country, Nigeria. You might have seen this, if you commute via public transportation very well., You will know the ”Staff”. The uniformed men are usually called ”staff”. Who are they? and what do they do for those of you who do not know them.

The staff are uniformed men {police, army etc} who get on the bus for free. They don’t pay. Why? well, because they are staff. Now, I still don’t get what they mean by being a staff. Usually, they sit in front with the driver majestically. No form of payment at all, not even half of it. Most transporters hate to pick them up because they know that, that is a minus one from the profit of the day and I keep wondering why these people don’t pay!

Why are they called staff? Do they work with the drivers or bus conductors, do they help in cleaning the bus or arranging the seats? Sincerely, who employed them? Someone help me out here.

Perhaps they are what I call…”Glorified, touts.”

  1. Lol. Awon staff in the building o. I wonder too, did the government tell them to enter without payment?

    O sumi

  2. I can’t advise enemy to join the police force. Those people are appalling. They aren’t attractive at all. Awon nuisance

  3. Lol. This is so dope. Really? who employed them? I don’t understand at all. This morning the bus conductor kept grumbling because of the so called ‘staff’ in the bus. It’s annoying.

  4. Lmao, nope they are modified vagrant species who walk around freely. Fiddlesticks, who staff help?

  5. That’s very true and its kinda common in Lagos. the so called serendipitous staffs thinks its a most they get free transportation to their desired destination. I mean its absurd considering that fact that the driver will have to run at a loss if that happens Consecutively.

  6. Seriously something has to be done about this issue of staffs, it has become very ubiquitous in Nigeria which is not supposed to be so.

  7. Staff my butt. unscrupulous tied fisted folks. God bless their souls they try it with BRT drivers, they will meet themselves on third mainland bridge probably drowning in it.

  8. The most annoying thing is that some feel its their civic right. Who made them staffs if I may asked? @ legzy maybe staff of balmy primates. #lol#

  9. Don’t mind them. They sha always find means to rob people if their money.. Glorified Touts indeed… Nonsense people.
