We are in pursuit of power, fame and wealth in a way we have never been before. Whereas where it really counts we already have what we seek, it is there all the time. If we give it time it will make itself known.

Your core sense of identity shapes your life. Who you think you are determines every decision you make and everything you experience. Who you think you are determines what you believe you deserve, therefore how much happiness, success, love, grace and goodness you think you can have. Who you think you are determines how you think, what you see, what you gravitate towards and what gravitate towards you.

In life, your fundamental premise will always dictate your present experience. The world you see and respond to is not a fixed object experience but a mirror to your consciousness, and you experience the world through the subjective lens of who you think you are at core. As a people, a world, we need to understand that when we hurt another person, we invariably hurt ourselves; we are failing to understand our interconnectedness, our kinship with one another and this is happening at our own peril.

Stress is a major component in most of our lives and can become a persistent negative factor that leads to disease. The more stress you experience, the more you tend to focus on it. You attend to it and give it life, energy and language. Think about all the things you say when you are feeling stressed, that simply reinforce the feeling or the state of mind you are in. We take a lot for granted about the power of words on our psyche, and on each other. Once your stress level increases, your immunity decreases and you become more susceptible to ailments in the form of germs, viruses and disease. It’s no rocket science that stress leads to disease. It may be something as small as a headache, or an ulcer and sometimes it may be even more serious debilitating conditions.

The point is that stress can have a profound effect on our total wellbeing. Is your environment making you ill? Or are you creating an environment that is making others ill? It may in a public or private arena.

Some of us are genetically predisposed to certain health challenges, which go without saying; however genetics doesn’t always guarantee anything. We have the ability in many cases to modify or reduce the impact of those challenges on our bodies if our thinking is correct.  There are things you can do, on the conscious level, to improve your health: Practice relaxation as a method of stress reduction. This means creating very specific time to focus on whatever form of relaxation you chose for yourself. This does not include excessive social eating and drinking or any other vice. We are talking of mindful time dedicated to focussing on your thoughts and wellness. Finding time to engage in some form of exercise no matter how little can do wonders for your health..  The rule is little but often.

The subconscious mind would probably effortlessly take care of your body and your vitality if you let it, but unfortunately it is never alone. Your conscious mind is always lurking about, planting seeds of doubt, criticism and fear. When you entertain thoughts that are negative, they soon cling to you and harass you, until they inevitably bring about disease. Eliminate destructive thoughts; they only tear down your body and make it susceptible to any illnesses around you. You may be more responsible for your health than you think or realise. If you are not as healthy as you would like to be, you may very well be able to control some, in some cases possibly all of your condition.

Most of us keep strengthening our negative thoughts and habits as a result we sow the seeds of our own suffering and pain. If you use or have used negative, insulting language on yourself or loved ones, make a commitment to stop. Decide right now, to cease being angry, frustrated, or hopeless. Decide right now to stop blaming others for your problems. Acceptance, affirmation, joy and mindfulness are the pathway to healing and sustainable health. If you are not willing to change, something which we know is painful, and to put in the work required to changing, then you will continue to experience dis (ease). The work required includes: Examining the language you use in your head, and outside of it, to the world. You need to be prepared to examine your behaviour patterns to determine which ones are enabling you to be complacent, and which ones are positive and challenging and will lead to wellness. It is important to create new language and new behaviour that will support your desire for healing and longevity.

We all have far greater responsibility for our own health than we’d like to think. It’s easy to believe that illness is something we have no control over; that it happens to us. But the truth is that we sometimes invite it by cultivating an internal environment that is negative, as a result , if your thoughts and your energy are negative, you are bound to attract other negative energies, including those that can result in poor health. Furthermore if your internal environment isn’t strong and secure, you are likely to succumb to illnesses.

The greatest harm comes from our own aggressive minds. Even in the midst of our suffering, in the hardest of times we can still connect to or access a kind heart. No matter how we feel, we can still aspire to be happy. We can learn to act and think in ways that sow the seeds for and of our future well being.

Let us keep these conversations going on Above Whispers, whether it’s by making those whispers as loud as we can or simply by making things better for one another. Send you enquiries on any mental health issues to Gloria
