Fabiano said it is alarming that 33 per cent of girls drop out of school despite efforts by both the government and other players to keep the girls in school.

Malawi on Tuesday commemorated the Girl Child Day.

“The girls drop out of school due to economic, social and cultural reaasons,” said Fabiano.

He said parents who marry off their girl children and men who marry girls will be prosecuted.
