Kidnappings: Police Deploy 510 Officers Along Abuja-Kaduna Road

In a bid to curtail the incessant kidnappings, armed robbery and other crimes perpetuated across the Abuja-Kaduna axis, the Nigeria Police Force, yesterday, deployed 510 mobile police officers, tasked with the responsibilities of stopping this carnage.

Speaking at the flag-off of the operation, tagged “Operation Maximum Safety on Kaduna-Abuja Highway”, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris said the government was worried about the happenings around this axis and hence the decision to set up the operation.

The acting IGP, who was represented by the Deputy IGP incharge of operation, DIG Habila Joshak, who stated that the operation will last till the end of these crimes in the axis, tasked the officers and men of the Force to put in their best in order to succeed in this assignment.

While expressing confidence in the ability and capacity of the Force to handle the assignment, the IGP ordered the immediate payment of allowances of the officers and men deployed and revealed that the Kaduna state government has agreed to fuel the 40 vehicles and support the police through out this period.

He also called for the support of the traditional rulers, local vigilantes and villages in tracking the criminals as they are more conversant with the areas and know everyone in the areas.

Also speaking at the function, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, AIG Alhansan Baba assured the IGP of his officers readiness to carry out the duties effectively.

He however, tasked the officers and men deployed to the field to ensure that the carry out their duties within the law and professionally, while assuring them of his determination to cater for their welfare.
