The newly installed President of Rotary Club of Omole Golden Rotarian Titi Sunmonu has urged well meaning Nigerians to continue to partner with renowned organisations like the Rotary International in their quest to improve the standard of living of the poor and the downtrodden in the society.
This came as Sunmonu kicked off club activities with a free Cervical/Breast Cancer screening and Vaccination for poor women in Iju-Ifako community, adding that about 1,000 school bags donated by a philanthropist would soon be distributed free to public primary school pupils in the community.
Sunmonu, the 13th and first female President of the club stated this at her installation and public presentation of the new board members of the club at an event which took place at Anchor Event Centre, Ikeja, last Sunday.
The event was attended by a galaxy of eminent Nigerians, among them the Special Adviser to the President on Women Affairs, and former Lagos State Deputy Governor Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. The two-part event, also witnessed the raising of N20 million funds to finance the club’s projects.
“The insurance broker, and multiple Rotary International Gold medal awards winner said she was attracted to the club by her desire to help the poor and less privileged.
“She listed her projects in the year to include: Donation of an Information, Communication, Technology, ICT, laboratory to Ajuwon Senior Secondary School, in Ogun State, the donation of reflective and other security gadgets to men of the Nigerian Police and several others, and called on well meaning Nigerians to partner with the club in the actualisation of the projects.
“Among other dignitaries present at the event are the Lagos State”Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Chief Mrs. Lola Akande, who was represented by Mrs. Lola Fowler, former Commissioner for Education Mrs. Oladunjoye, her Transportation Commissioner Mr. Kayode Opeifa, and former Chief of Staff in the state Mr. Olakunle Ojo.
Also at the event were captains of industries such as the National President of Association of Women Insurance Brokers Barr. Mrs. Laide Osijo, among others.
