Tanzania: Women Warned Against Using Chemically-Produced Cosmetics

A Cosmetics expert and entrepreneur has warned that more women are at risk because of using chemically-produced cosmetics.

Ms Albay Hajji, said at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds yesterday that the use of make-ups, cleanser, moisturiser and lipstick if not carefully regulated could prove fatal to women addicted to the use of such chemicals.

She advised women to use locally-made honey cosmetics that meet standards and which are free of chemical products. According to her, there are 13,000 chemicals used in cosmetics and only a few have been evaluated for safety.

“I am very proud to be supported by DCB Bank. As, a woman the bank has enabled me improve natural products safe for the human skin,” she said.

DCB Bank Executive Director Edmund Mkwawa, said his financial institution has so far disbursed loans amounts to 458bn/- to 450,000 customers in the past 14 years.

The bank has also offered training to entrepreneurs to improve their businesses.
